How did POPLOCK make the toughest impact bit socket set in the world?

We’ve tested our impact sockets to destruction in comparison with impact sockets from the best globally recognized household and workshop brands. The results are impressive, with POPLOCK impact sockets surviving torque loads far beyond the breaking point of the competition. How did we do this? Like all our designs, we started from first principles and looked at the most common point of failure – the connection between the driver bit and the hex head holder.

On standard impact sockets the driver bit is driven into the hex socket causing slight distortion of the hex socket, this creates stresses that encourage micro-fractures in the crystalline structure of the hardened alloy of the hex socket, the rest is history – after repeated impact driving at high torque loads, the socket splits open. The POPLOCK impact socket set uses a patented through-riveted construction to hold the bit in place with a perfect, stressless, fit between the bit and the socket that minimises impact stress.
