The Poplock Indexing Pry Bar features a secure, easily operated ratchet mechanism that allows for precise adjustments to the angle between the head and shaft of the pry bar. Our indexing pry bar design is ruggedly engineered to apply as much force as a non-indexing pry bar but with the advantages of access to confined spaces or at awkward angles by adjusting the pry bar head angle without needing to switch to a different tool.
What’s special about the Poplock indexing pry bar mechanism?
When we design an indexing pry bar set we look at the issues people have with existing indexing pry bar mechanisms and build the solutions into our engineering. There are several special features of the Poplock indexing pry bar mechanism that you won’t find repeated anywhere else, partly because we are focused on high quality engineering with the best materials, and because we patented the unique double-gear system of our secure two-sided index lock.
Squeeze the index between finger and thumb to unlock, rotate to the desired position, and release to lock the index securely in the new position. Each adjustment has an identical, secure, positive locking engagement. There are sometimes issues with indexing head alignment failures in the indexing pry bars made by our competitors, but the double action lock of Poplock indexing pry bars gives you reliable, rugged, precision.
The precise locking indexing pry bar mechanism makes the Poplock indexing pry bar set extremely efficient for repetitive prying tasks in awkward positions or where access to the workpiece is limited. The ease of adjustment also makes our indexing pry bar set a go-to toolkit for any prying need, as it’s easy to select a pry bar of the appropriate length and rapidly adjust the head angle for the task without fuss or delay.
Is the indexing pry bar as strong as a fixed pry bar?
People wonder if indexing pry bars can be as strong as fixed pry bars, and there are good reasons for this as among the vast array of pry bars, nail pullers, crow bars and wrecking bars on the market there are many poor quality indexing pry bars that are simply not up to the task. The indexing mechanism needs to be engineered to match or exceed the maximum torque loads that can be placed on the pry bar shaft. Poplock pry bars are engineered for torque loads that meet or exceed the torque ratings of any fixed head pry bars of similar alloy construction.
From our experience in testing, it’s almost impossible to over-torque a Poplock pry bar in normal operating conditions. We had to break them as part of our quality management and ultimate strain failure measurements, but it took a hydraulic testing rig to break our pry bars, beyond the forces a human mechanic can be expected to bring to bear.
Meet the versatile Poplock indexing pry bar range
The Poplock indexing pry bar set has three bar lengths from 8” to 17”. The 17” bar has two indexed joints, one at the head and one in the shaft. This delivers maximum indexing versatility without compromising on strength. All Poplock indexing pry bars have a Cr-Mo (Chromium-Molybdenum) alloy head and indexing gears coupled with a Cr-V (Chrome-Vanadium) alloy shaft to resist high torque loads without stiffness or fragility. We also make a 17” indexing v-claw pry bar for added nail-puller functionality.
- 8” & 12” single indexing pry bars
- 17” double indexing pry bar
- 17” single indexing nail puller
- Tough Cr-Mo alloy head and indexing gears
- Resilient Cr-V alloy handle
- Industrial hard Manganese Phosphate head surfacing
- Blue anodized handle
